Age Limits on Trick-or-Treating?

Teens who trick-or-treat in some cities may get more than candy.  They could in trouble with the law!  Several cities in Virgina, Illinois, and other states, now ban kids older than 12 from trick-or-treating.  Violators face fines up to $100, though they are usually given a warning instead.  The ban in Belleville, Illinois, was put in to place because many residents were scared by tall teens in masks showing up at their doors.  Supporters of such laws say only young kids should trick-or-treat.  But many people say "Boo!" to setting age limits.  They say trick-or-treating is a fun, harmless activitiy for kids of all ages.  What do YOU think?

What i think of this is I know that they are trying to help residents in the states but its not really helping because even though they are putting this ban, Older kids will want to do it more because they can't do it and also, it's just ruining Halloween with that ban cause Halloween is a night where you express yourself and have fun and stay young, I agree with the reasons cause of the older kids with egg throwing and scaring little kids, and such things like that so maybe they can somehow keep the smaller kids away from the bigger and older kids. What i am saying is that i agree with this in some ways but really, no.

I think they should ban certain age limits and not. I think they should because some kids, little kids, could get really scared of costumes or can get lost. I think they shouldn't because this is only a once year holiday. In plus, who can resist candy?

I think there SHOULD NOT BE AN AGE LIMIT. Older kids should be able to still go trick or treating for the candy. My sister's 14 and she likes to go for the candy that way everyone no matter what age gets candy.

I think they should ban it,little kids can get scared. Also, stealing. Robbing kids' candy. Although, I don't think they should ban it 12+, maybe 15?

I think older kids should be able to trick-or-treat even though they are older because after all Halloween is a fun holiday for people of all ages to have fun on. If some people don't want older kids to come to their house they should have a sign or something that says so. Or maybe instead of banning older kids from trick-or-treating they can have less scarier costumes for people to wear.

I think that all the kids should be able to go trick or treating. I think that because all the kids want candy and also you are getting it for free. But i also think that the teenagers who go trick or treating should't act to scary in front of the little kids.

I think that you should be able to trick or treat at any age 1 year old t 1 billion years old its should be fair for everyone so that everyone can score candy.

I think they are right because kids go and knock on people's doors until they open it. some people do not celerbrate halloween so there sould be no trick or treating allowed in the world.

i do NOT think that there should be an age limit on trick or treating. Kids have fun trick or treating! And by kids i mean people under 18 year old. There probably would be some kids that get scared of the older kids and their costumes but maybe the big kids could like... I don't know trick or treat in a differant spot than the little little kids? I mean like 7 and under by little little kids by the way. But yeah that's what i think about THAT.

I think the should ban teen trick or treaters. Because the might wear innapropreite costumes in front of little kids. Also the teens shouldn't trick or treat because the could be wearing scary costumes and they might scare the kids. And one last thing.... The teens might bully the little kids and steal their candy. I just think there should be a age limit. It should only go to 15. Thats what I think.

I think that teens should be able to trick or treat as long as they aren't causing any harm or damage.
If they put on this ban it won't really do anything because how are you supposed to tell if the older kids are older than 12? It's not like they have ID. If they put on this ban it will be a waste and it will ruin the Halloween Sprit. Kids just want candy and it doesn't matter what age they are as long as they are being respectful to everyone. I think that there shouldn't be an age limit because what about all the other older kids not causing harm? They shouldn't be banned because of other troublemakers. Therefore, I think there shouldn't be an age limit. We are all just trick or treating for candy, why make it so complicated and difficult?

I think they shouldnt ban kids older than 12 from trick or treating because kids should have fun on this awesome holiday. Who wants to stay home on halloween who is 12 and up.They should be having fun and wearing their own costume.

I think all kids of all ages should go out trick-or-treating but the older kids shouldn't get more han the littler kids it should all be even. But if the older kids are scaring littler kids then they shouldn't go because thats just mean. Also if know one gos trick-or-treating then whats the piont of halloween if your not having fun. Also I think they shoudn't have that laws of kids older than 12 shoudn't go trick-or-treating kids should have fun wall they can.
