Should Kids Be on Facebook?

Facebook may soon gain a lot more friends.  The popular website is considering letting preteens create accounts linked to their parents' accounts.  Right now, only people 13 and older are allowed to set up Facebook accounts.  People who like the idea note that many young kids already use Facebook anyway.  More than 7.5 million kids have lied about their ages to join - often with their parents' help - according to one report.  Many parents say it's a safe site for kids to connect with friends.  Opponents of the idea argue that kids don't understand the possible dangers of sharing private information online.  What do you think?

I think that Kids should be able to have facebook because maybe they have family that they can't get ahold of and that family member has as facebook. THEN the kid could talk to that person more often and send messages to eachother and play games with eachother or whatever..

I think kids who are 13 and under shouldnt have a Facebook account because they dont know how to handle a account. If kids want a Facebook account they should ask their parents. If the parents say YES, good for you.If your parents say NO, Im sorry but you have to wait until you are old enough.

I think kids should be able to have facebook because i don't see the harm as in whats wrong with having one. I like there idea of considering maybe having children under the age of thirteen having a facebook because the parents will be able to see what they're doing because it's linked to their account. If they think that it's dangerous and sharing information to strangers online they also have the feature where only your friends can see your information.

I think they should allow kids to have a facebook. Maybe they can talk to more relatives this way, maybe their realatives live like REALLY far away. They should always be friends with someone they know though for safty.

I think that kids under 13 should be able to have a facebook account. As long as everyone isn't giving out too much information about their lives. I have an account and as long as everyone stays safe I don't think that facebook could cause any harm. The whole point of having a Facebook account is to connect with friends and family. I think it is a very good way to chat and connect with your friends and family over the web. I agree with Facebook's consider on letting preteens create accounts linked to their parent's account as long as their parents know their child has one then everything will be fine.

Well, do I just LOVE this SUBJECT! I personally think KIDS SHOULD NOT HAVE A FACEBOOK! My mom doesn't let me have one because there are too many stories where girls send inappropriate photos of themselves to boys who say they're her age but end up being like 40 then they meet and something bad happen to that girl. Also you can just send texts to your friends that's what I do. JUst because I don't have a Facebook doesn't mean I'm less cool or popular.

I think they SHOULD let younger kids have one. I have a account, but my mom has to approve the games I play and what my posts are and things like that. What my opinion i that as long as there is parental supervision and don't share information to strangers or do kids can have a account. If they say no to this, they can maybe make a Facebook for kids, pretty much the same thing but maybe not have games or oher things kids shouldn't play or see. but that is just my opinion of this situation.
